I would like to thank you for your support in this QS project.
When Dan was four years old his family immigrated to Canada from Holland. He says that was the best thing that his parents did and is proud to call Canada his home. He attended Loyalist collage where he met his wife of 41 years. Early in 1979, with two young sons, D. Koets Plumbing & Heating Ltd. became a reality for Dan. Son number one, Jeff Koets, was university then city bound. However, from an early age it was evident that Chris, son number two, would follow in his Dad’s footsteps and is now a vital part of the business. Dan will have to wait to see if any of his 5 grandsons will make it a three- generation business!
Outside of business hours you can find Dan watching and cheering on his grandsons while they are playing hockey, soccer, baseball or basketball. In summer you might see him biking along the road, on the golf course or leading worship at Church in the Heart of the Park in Presquile. During the winter months, Dan has turned in his hockey skates for a curling broom and a slider.
One of the perks that Dan always enjoys about the plumbing business is the chance to meet new people. He loves to chat while working and hear his customers' stories and get to know them. His love of work and people has been a winning combination for the past 40 years!
Chris is our go to guy! He has the ability to look at a situation and figure out the solution. And he makes it look easy! He has been that way since he was a little kid... he loved figuring out how things worked. As his parents that proved interesting at times!
Dan was thrilled when our youngest son Chris showed an interest in plumbing. However, the conversation can get “interesting” when new ideas meet old ideas. In the end, our customers benefit from both Dan and Chris working together using old and new technology to provide the best services and products. They have a wealth of information between them!
We are pleased to be the area dealer for the AVIVE Healthy Water which uses a food grade hydrogen peroxide technology system from Belgium that provides clean drinking water for both city and well water. Chris is our resident expert with this new technology and enjoys taking the training that is offered throughout the year.
Chris and his wife are a very busy family with three growing boys. Chris coaches and/or assistant coaches rep hockey which keeps him out of trouble during the long winter months! During the rest of the year you will find either Chris or his wife coaching soccer and ball hockey. They believe in strong active families and are more than willing to commit their time to encourage kids to become the best they can be.
It doesn’t matter when you meet Chris he always has a smile on his face. I have called him at various hours of the day and night to look after an emergency for a customer and I can hear the smile in his voice. Chris enjoys all the challenges that come with running a business and always brings his best to our customers.
Pat met Dan on the very first day at Loyalist College and so began a 43 year journey together... 2 years dating, 41 years of marriage and 38 years of building a business together. Depending on the day either Dan or Pat feel that they deserve a medal for this journey!!!
The military brought Pat and her family to Trenton when she was going into grade 10. Several postings for her Dad has allowed Pat to experience living across Canada from coast to coast. Although moving was never easy at the time, Pat feels that the moves have helped her to understand what it means to be Canadian. She also “gets” what it means to be part of a military family.
Their five grandsons are such a blessing and have added a new chapter in their lives. Time spent with “the boys” is always an adventure... sometimes all five are together and other times it is one on one. The last week of August usually means a camping trip with all five grandsons celebrating the end of summer holidays and the start of a new school year.
When not working in the office, Pat enjoys working with and hanging out with kids. Playground supervisor at the Base was her favorite summer job as a teenager! She has been a teacher’s aid, a Brownie assistant, a Youth Group leader, a Sunday School teacher, a drop-in center volunteer, a classroom volunteer, and, of course, the best job ever a Grandma.
She is also passionate about mental health and is the board chair of the Faith & Hope Ministires.
Over the years Dan and Pat have taken many mission trips with youth groups. They trekked across country to Winnipeg to help with the clean up after the great Manitoba flood of 1997. The next year they were off to help clean up after the ice storm in the Winchester area in Ontario. And a couple of years ago they boarded several planes to work with aid’s orphans in the villages in Zambia. Each trip has allowed them to meet many wonderful and caring people!!!!
Shari is our Office Manager. She was a Superintendent of several apartment buildings for Stan Klemencic Builder Ltd. in Trenton for over fifteen years before joining our team. When you call into the office you will get someone who is professional, efficent and who cares about your issues.
Shari first met Dan when she was just three years old after her father was transferred to CFB Trenton. Dan’s family were her neighbours....who knew after all these years she’d end up working for him!
Shari is a member of the Brighton Legion Highlanders and the Brighton All Star Band. She can be seen hiding in the back row behind the drums.
